Meet Dudley. Dudley is a 3 year old American Gaited Horse gelding standing at 14’3hh and built exceptionally well. Dudley was foaled on August 24th, 2021 where he was born and raised on our farm.

Dudley is sired by the top producing stud from Vanover Ridge, Colton’s Go Boy Blue, a registered Tennessee Walking Horse, and out of our family’s longtime favorite Kentucky Mountain mare.  These horses are well known and sought after here in Eastern Kentucky. The Foster family has been producing the smoothest moving gaited horses right here in Vanover Ridge for over 45 years.  Our breeding program focuses on breeding for not only smooth gaited horses, but also for exceptional temperament.  Dudley is the finest colt we have raised, and we are proud to offer him as a true Vanover Ridge horse!

Not only has Dudley excelled in his gait, but he has also proven to have the temperament we all strive for.  This has been best displayed by Dudley being my wife’s go to mount while she was pregnant this year. We also use him when toting our son on long trail rides.

Dudley was started slowly and correctly with extensive focus on ground work to begin with.  Dudley has been handled and exposed to things his entire life. While only starting to be ridden at the age of two, Dudley displayed excellent ground manners from the very start, making him such a nice, easy, willing colt to start.

Dudley was ground driven, taught to side pass to a mounting block, park out, and stand ground tied before ever being ridden under saddle. He has shown extreme signs of intelligence and willingness. He has never offered any foolishness and has made it such an enjoyable experience each ride.

As you can see in his video, he is a gentleman for even the smallest cowboy on the ground and in the cross ties. The amount of time our family has spent caring for Dudley could not be tracked.  He has been with us since foaling, and he has taught our son so much about caring for horses.

We have put Dudley through every obstacle and situation we could think of.  He has seen all that a horse can see on the farm as well as on the trail.

Dudley has traveled with us on every trip we have taken this year! He spent an entire week at the famous Knott County Trail Ride, he has been countless times down to Short Mountain Tennessee where he excelled in the woods keeping up with the most experienced horses, he led the way of the 1st Annual Poker Run Trail Ride in Barbourville, KY, he has ridden countless miles in Big South Fork, and been picketed while camping at Mammoth Cave, Barron Fork, Hocking Hills, Red Hill, Bear Creek, Station Camp and Stampede run.

Dudley is the kind of horse that, despite his age, can fully be trusted.

We have ponied my 3 year old son on him, let him ride him alone in the back arena, and had all different levels of riders on him. Dudley is level-headed and will do just about anything he is asked. He will cross creeks, downed trees and rivers with ease. We have taken Dudley in very steep, rugged terrain where he navigates with ease each time. He is sure-footed and pays up-most attention to where he is going.

Dudley is stalled quietly, or can be caught in the pasture with just a call or a whistle, he will come right to the gate. He has been taken on many overnight camping trips, where he stands like a gentleman on a picket line, tied, or in a corral. Dudley will ride in the front, back or middle of large groups as he doesn’t have a preference. He stands for the farrier, to be tacked, bathed and groomed. If you are in the market for a good, well-minded gelding who excels in every direction, we encourage you to come out and see Dudley for yourself.

Proxy Bidding:

Proxy bidding is an automatic bidding system that is great to use! Entering a proxy amount allows the system to automatically bid on your behalf. This keeps you from having to babysit the auction. It also protects your maximum bid by not displaying that amount until you are bid against. We advise entering your max bid especially if you will be away from your electronic device or in a poor service area at the end of the auction. To place a proxy, or automatic, bid simply enter the amount of your maximum bid into the Custom Bid box. This allows the system to automatically enter your next bid $100 above contending bidders until your maximum bid is met or the auction ends, whichever comes first. You may also increase your maximum bid at any time without it displaying until you are bid against. If your maximum bid is reached and you are outbid, you will receive an email letting you know that you have been outbid.

Buy It Now:

If the bidding process is NOT for you, we offer a Buy It Now (BIN) option. This option allows you to purchase a horse immediately without waiting until the auction closes. The Buy It Now (BIN) option is available at the seller’s discretion. If the seller offers a Buy It Now option, a bidder can purchase that horse immediately at a price set by the seller. When the “Buy It Now” button is selected, the auction will end immediately. At that time, the purchaser is responsible to make payment arrangements with Classic Horse Auction. You may either be invoiced or you may pay via credit card (a 4% processing fee will be added for all credit card transactions). The “Buy It Now” option will be removed prior to the close of the auction.

Final Minutes:

Please be aware that if a bid is placed within 5 minutes of the close of the auction, an additional 5 minutes will be added to the clock. Time will extend for each new bid placed until 5 minutes has gone by with no new bids.

Technical Issues:

In the event of technical issues (site crash, server glitch, etc.) within the last 10 minutes of the auction that prevent you from placing your bid, please contact Hope Jenne (615-545-6488) within TEN MINUTES of the close of the auction.

Non Payment Fee:

Buyers are required to make payment by the close of business the following day. Purchasers who do not will be charged a $1,000 fee to the card on file. This also applies to purchasers using the Buy It Now option.

Still Need Help?:

Serving customers, both buyers and sellers, is our top priority. We want this to be a seamless process for everyone involved. Please reach out to us via text or call with any additional questions you might have.
